It was a struggle for me to discover what I want to be when I grow up. It’s a question that most people are asked, yet I struggled to find an answer. Thanks to the career readiness courses at my online school, Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin, I’m being exposed to career paths I never considered. With this experience, I’m now confident in my answer of what I want to be when I grow up: a computer programmer.
My career readiness classes expose me to subjects that are essential for 21st century careers. I’m taking classes where I learn how to write code and create JAVA scripts in between my English and history lessons. The computer programming classes are rigorous and show me how systems work on a level I never could’ve imagined. Most importantly, they’re preparing me for the real-world situations I’ll encounter in the workplace.
Taking these classes through my online school gives me more time to practice my technical skills and gain a deeper knowledge of how and why computer systems work. These experiences have shown me the direction I want to take in life and are an invaluable addition to my education.
