HVAM offers a rigorous curriculum and a supportive learning environment led by Michigan-certified teachers. Courses are offered in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, art, music and physical education/health. Lessons plans are integrated across subjects, so students can apply what they are learning in one class to the lessons they encounter in another.

In HVAM’s virtual classrooms, students are able to pursue their coursework at a pace that works for them. Advanced learners can progress quickly, while those who find concepts more challenging can take the extra time they need.

“With the flexibility of online learning, we provide our students with a personalized approach to their education,” says Head of School Mary Moorman. “We work with each student to give them the support they need to become lifelong learners.”

In addition to the virtual classroom, HVAM students have access to resources such as books, workbooks, and materials for experiments and projects. Students become adept at using technology for their courses, projects and time management, and have the opportunity throughout the year to meet their teachers and classmates in person, through school outings, field trips and social events.
