BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Insight School of Minnesota (ISMN), a full- and part-time online public school program of Brooklyn Center Community School District, will celebrate the Class of 2018 at an in-person commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 9 at Brooklyn Center High School.
Of this year’s class of 65 students, 13 are graduating with honors. Members of the class will enroll in two- and four-year colleges and universities across the region, begin military service or enter the full-time workforce. Graduating seniors report having been accepted to a number of higher education institutions, including: Central Lakes College, Iowa State University, Mankato State University, Riverland Community College, University of North Dakota and University of Wisconsin.
“It is with great pride that we send the ISMN Class of 2018 off on their next adventure,” said Head of School John Huber. “Our online learning platform has provided these students with an education option that was not limited by geography or personal circumstance. Whether they continue to pursue a formal education or enter the workforce, they have already started down a pathway of success.”
A tuition-free public school for students statewide, ISMN offers a comprehensive education approach focused on providing struggling students with the academic, social and emotional support they need to succeed. With virtual classes and live online learning sessions led by state-licensed teachers, ISMN creates a personalized educational experience for students to ensure their success leading up to and after high school graduation.
Graduating senior Joseph Kotiranta will address the class and assembled guests. As a student on the autism spectrum, Joseph has excelled with the supportive and personalized online learning environment at ISMN. In addition to his high school diploma, he has earned college credits through the state’s Postsecondary Enrollment Options program, and plans to attend Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College.
Dr. Carly Baker, Brooklyn Center Community Schools Superintendent, will give the commencement address.
