Recognizing Teachers

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week May 7-11, I would like to recognize the teachers and staff at Oregon Virtual Academy (ORVA) and the support that they have given my daughter and me. I enrolled Marissa into ORVA because I was unsatisfied with the curriculum at her previous school. Additionally, Marissa has anxiety that affects her schoolwork and she wasn’t getting the support that she needed to succeed in school.

Marissa is now a junior at ORVA and I am constantly impressed at how much she has grown within the program. The school employs talented, caring teachers who have been incredibly accommodating to Marissa. They will take time to make sure she understands the material and are non-judgmental of her anxiety. Marissa personally loves how the flexibility of ORVA allows her to discover her strengths in school and develop a passion for learning new material!

ORVA’s curriculum is bright and engaging, not to mention easy to navigate. It’s a rare day we have trouble with the online aspects of the program, and if they ever happen the staff acts quickly to fix problems and are great at communicating with families so they are aware of the issue.

As a parent, I had such an easy transition when enrolling Marissa. Anytime I have a question or concern, the teachers at ORVA have responded rapidly with friendly and understanding attitudes. I am very comfortable going to them with anything because I am treated with respect.

Marissa has made huge strides at ORVA to the point where she is able to graduate a semester early! She is confident and finally happy with the curriculum she is getting. I am so thankful for the staff at ORVA!
