Idaho Virtual Academy (IDVA) held their graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 24 and it featured two students from the Silver Valley area.
This ceremony was one of three in-person graduation ceremonies held across the state that honored a total of 183 graduating seniors.
Collectively, the 183 graduates have been offered more than $600,000 in college scholarships, with more than 60 percent of the graduates planning to attend college.
Lauren Moon of Kingston was IDVA’s Class of 2018 valedictorian. Moon graduated with a 4.25 GPA and also earned her Associate of Arts degree in General Studies with honors through North Idaho College. She is a Northwest Nazarene University Bridge Scholar and plans to take a gap year before attending college to study philosophy and theater.
Shelby Anderson of Cataldo also was in this year’s graduation class. Anderson plans to attend California State University Chico and plans to become an elementary school teacher. She is also a recipient of the Kootenai County Fair Foundation Scholarship.
