Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville Invites Students to Enroll for 2019-2020 School Year

LEWISVILLE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH), a full-time, online public school program of Hallsville Independent School District, is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2019-2020 school year. TVAH serves students statewide in grades 3 through 12.

TVAH offers families an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. TVAH combines online instruction, rigorous curriculum and the support of state-licensed teachers to provide a personalized learning experience for each student.

“We are excited to grow our community of online learners as we enter our second year of operation,” said Catherine Groven, head of school at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville. “Texas families deserve the opportunity to find the education setting that best meets their needs. Our goal is to be a partner in each student’s success, and to prepare them for a bright future.”

Students at TVAH are offered a full course load in the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science and history, as well as world languages, art, music and electives. College- or career-minded high school students can choose profession-focused courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school or explore a possible college major. Eligible students in 11th and 12th grade can enroll tuition-free in up to two college-level courses per semester, through the school’s partnership with the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, potentially earning credits towards both their high school diploma and a post-secondary degree.

TVAH’s teachers facilitate live, interactive online classes, allowing students to enjoy a safe learning environment anywhere with an internet connection. In addition to scheduled classes, teachers communicate regularly with families via phone and email in order to ensure they are supported and students are appropriately challenged.

Resources are available to help families navigate the online learning experience. Students are invited to join virtual clubs and organizations and attend in-person social gatherings to foster a sense of school community, build leadership skills, and form friendships. TVAH’s Strong Start program helps families who are new to the school by providing resources such as live workshops and videos to start the school year on the right foot.

Parents can also access their middle school and high school students’ grades, homework, and class assignments using the K12 mobile app. The app serves as a connection point for families and school staff, as parents are able to contact teachers or school administrators with just the touch of a button on their mobile devices.

Enrollment is now open for the 2019-2020 school year. To learn more about TVAH and enrollment requirements, families are invited to attend online and in-person information sessions and events hosted by the school throughout the year.
